Hi this may be a long shot or in the wrong forum. Hi have a Gateway LX6810-01 that I really like. But over the years some of the features have failed. The network port failed so I installed a pci network card. USB failed on board so I installed a usb add on card. Now I would like to replace the motherboard and CPU and possibly RAM. So what I am asking is for anyone having experience upgrading the MB and CPU and any recommendations on what to purchase from NewEgg. Thanks Joe

Before you decide to upgrade, you may need a new windows coa, which adds significantly to the cost, unless you've already upgraded to a non gateway windows coa. Ever changed out a board and installed windows? Here's a youtube video on the subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7IPTHwsrwo. Here's a newegg combo; use only a micro atx board; atx boards may be too large:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130655 (no hdmi port, but many low end video cards have it) $62.50 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115234 $185 after promo code
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104333 $44
check craigslist for windows 7 pro (if needed) unopened copy about $70

Total: about $361

Hi thanks for the reply, I have built PC and installed boards before. But I am not sure because this a Gateway PC that all of the connections on the MB will match with the case like the power switch. Thanks once again. Joe
