Which upgrade would make the biggest impact?

I am looking to either upgrade my RAM or my CPU with around a $120 budget.

What I would upgrade the RAM to: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7487099&CatId=4534

vs.

What I would upgrade the CPU to: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4283004&CatId=1946

So which upgrade would give me the greatest performance impact? Thank you in advance for the help!

If it is indeed correct that you currently have 8gb of fairly newish ram, then upgrading past that won't give you much of a performance boost...unless you run huge amounts of programs or CAD or some other ram intensive software. What is your current motherboard? We do not even know if it supports FX CPU's.

Don't upgrade any of them. The performance gain won't be very noticable. It would be better to save your Money and buy a new CPU when Steamroller launches or when you can afford a "high-end" Vishera CPU like FX 8320/8350. Those would provide a significant performance boost and the best bang for your buck.

OK AM3+ so I suggest you at min go with this FX4300 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4904563&Sku=A79-8352 Over all a better CPU being second gen FX fixing many of the bugs in first gen. FX6300 would make more sense though since you are coming from a X6.
