These components add up to roughly $1200, are all excellent and should be enough to throw whatever you want at them:

i7-3770k processor (would be more useful than i5 when games start to use more threads in the future)

HD 7970 graphics card (as powerful as 680 but cheaper)

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard

8GB DDR3 RAM

Antec High Current Pro HCP-750 power supply

Cooler Master Storm Enforcer case

And you're good to go!
