Hi,

I've built a machine using the ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard which comes with Wi Fi GO onboard. This talks to our wireless broadband / adsl modem and works perfectly.

Now to separate my video editing environment from my visual studio development environment, I've built a MS Virtual PC (Windows 7) instance to house the latter.

From this VM I want to connect to the internet, to get updates, etc etc.

My gut tells me that even though the virtual machine is running on the same physical machine, there is no way for the VM to use the WiFi GO that sits on the physical motherboard. In short it just can't 'see' it.

One suggestion I found said to simply buy a USB wireless network adapter, but I thought it was worth asking here.

Many thanks for any thoughts
Cheers
Colin

I have run plenty of virtual boxes in the past that loved using my wireless NIC for an internet connection. Heck, I run VMs on my laptop that runs Linux because it's for work, and the link between the virtual machine and the wireless card is made flawlessly. Check to see if your virtualization software can even recognize the WiFi Go.

If not, you may have to go with a USB or PCI network card.

I also have one of these boards. And I typically use Oracle's Virtual Box because it's free and it virtualizes.
