I have the FX 8350 w/ 990Fx extreme 3 mother board. I want to run 3 monitors as one (3D) for gaming. do I need 3 GPU's or 2 & I want to use the radeon 7770 video cards, have 16 gb 1333 ram ddr3 how big power supply please. I am also interested in a open case over a box case so I can monitor it better & not have to plug & unplug the plugs all the time to clean it. win 7, 2 dvd r/w, 1 tb sata Hd & 1 tb usb 3.0 hd, This will be my all purpose work & entertainment center. yes the 990 FX motherboard does have the 3 PCIe 2.0 Slots & the 7770 Video cards are PSIe 3.0 will they fit & if so I suppose they would work like the usb 2.0/3.0 per out put ?????

to run 3 monitors on a single card u'll need to use a display port adapter or cable for the third monitor unless specified other wise. If ur running the monitors for gaming across all 3 monitors u will need a more powerful graphics card, or crossfire 7770 2gb models. But for the cost of those get a single 7870 or higher. Even a single 7870 will not run great across all monitors at high resolution and settings

I say again not wanting to run single GPU Do I need Three (3) GPU OR two (2) GPU for 3 monitors for one large picture not 3 pic's of the same thing (Crossfire OR 3 WAY Crossfire) Power supply & PCIe compatibility 2.0/3.0 Will 3.0 fit in 2.0 slot & work

Doing 3 monitors one display view, u do not need 3 gpus it can be done with one gpu for up to six with the right card

7770 can not 3 way crossfire and would need a 2gb card minimum, so anything crossfire 7850s.

Pci-e 2.0 and 3.0 at the moment have no major difference and 3.0 and 2.0 will work in the opposite one. Check AMDs website for recommended wattage and pick slightly above for safety.

I have one MSi 5770 hawk is 1gb does crossfire, can't find another new to go with the one I have & it was rated at the bottom of the list for my motherboard & cpu. These are DDR5 GPU's not DDR3 The 7770 is advertized to do crossfire.( a wire crosses between two or more Video cards above the mother board, directly between the cards) The 5770 required 480 watt psu for one card & 600 watt for two However I was concerned for need for higher psu because cpu is 125 watt 4.0 ghz / 4.2 turbo. 8 core stock, clocks easy over 4.6. my old & my 1 yr old Duel core computers (intel & AMD 2.8 ) both are bottlenecking at the cpu running oblivion & Rage. The games are telling me this. my intent is 3 monitors as one screen on games & movies/ 3 seperate on other apps.. ddr5 gpu's, 32 gb ddr3 ram mother. I am tired of buying games barely or won't play on my computers, & my computer is business & play, no xbox 360. etc

oh thank you I will look at the 7800 series video cards. What is advertized that I have been reading on the 7770, they are being rated with the 7900 series but smaller & suppose to be able to run crossfire, my 5770 will just can't find a new one

It depends on the games you'd like to play really. I personally wouldn't go for Eyefinity (3 monitors) with anything lower than a Radeon HD 7950 3GB at 3x1080p (5760x1080). And at that resolution I'd likely use a pair of Radeon HD 7950s for optimal performance (what's the reason of running 3 screens in low res/low details anyway???).

My 2 cents.

If u could find another 5770 it would not be worth it for multi monitor eyeinfinity, my crossfire 1gb 6770s can barely max out bf3 on 1080p ultra which is due to the 1gb vram. So yes going dual 2gb 7770s will get way better performance but the cost of two will be similar to a 3gb 7950 single card, which 3 monitors on eyeinfinity will run as use both dvi and the display port, or dvi, hdmi, display port, but forced to use the display port even with crossfire anyway

Im pretty sure i get better performance with eyeinfinity with a single 5850 1gb that i got for free than my crossfire 6770s just due to the higher performance of the card and its memory interface, if i ran eyeinfinity lol which i dont
