im wondering if adding more ram will help speed up tasks on machine. it is running windows 7 64 bit and has 3GB of ram installed. it is rated for 32GB maximum. I did`nt pay much for it but it is slow but a good machine otherwise.

Bring up Task Manager and watch memory usage as you go about your most demanding tasks. If memory isn't approaching 90% or more of physical RAM, then adding more probably isn't going to help it. The E350 is not a very fast processor, so it will run slowly. Not much you can do about it.

i will try that, so i can monitor the memory usage as i open different thing to put a load on it ? would changing the processor be easy or would the motherboard need replaced with it ?

From what I can read on HP's website about your Compaq model,
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02859370&prodSeriesId=5080701

it's like I remembered: The E350 is soldered directly to the motherboard, you cannot "upgrade" that CPU (that's what "BGA" means in "Processor socket: FT1 BGA"). You are stuck with it unless you replace the entire motherboard and CPU, and if you do that you'll probably also have to upgrade the power supply unit (PSU). Not worth it. The only thing you can upgrade on that system is the memory. You can't even install a graphics card (if you could you'd again have to upgrade the PSU).

Face it: It's a cheap, entry-level system. Not much you can do with it.
