hi. i am using google chrome as browser. whenever i open browser or go to a new tab, this page shows up, http://mysearch.avg.com.
how can i get rid of it.

Solution
IF i remember well, AVG toolbar should be in Programs and Features list too. Try use Revo to uninstall it. This should get rid of everything of that toolbar. And just like you did with plugins is okay.

I can't do it either - a huge pain. Windows 7 Mozilla. Tried each of these several times, reboot etc. AVG T not listed at control panel uninstall, or at CCleaner (YAY CCleaner my favorite clean it up program free but I paid love it!!) uninstall, or at Revo uninstall. Toolbar Cleaner (free) thought it got rid of it, but its still there on Mozilla though not shown on TBC. AVG has download removal tools - they do not work. Their chat line took me 45 min to get to a person (I'm very persistent when po'd) Person said to call,as it was too complicated to explain on chat. Did not call not THAT into self-harm. Several 3d party removers did not work (why do they have the same free software with x+ different names?) Any way, my sympathies and will someone please make us malware that will destroy all avg programs on all computers in world - good job for Chinese govt if they bored with info theft and checking whether their citizen's sox want freedom - never forget Tiananmen Square. Best of luck & I hope someone help us fix this.

It's baaaack! Opened mozilla and there it was. Ran toolbar cleaner again, ran the avg toolbar remover, checked plugins in mozilla and now it seems to be gone. ran ccleaner and ccleaner reg check - suspicious as saw no registry changes, I'll wait till it pops again and will again try to use its own uninstall - search for avg still find lots of stuff, including DSPDlg_IE "a feature of avg security toolbar that detedts attempt to change default search settings" - also found AVG tollbar in IE add-ins - disabled and then appeared to be gone. Zombie program - I count anything you can't get rid of as malware.

AVG Toolbar happily ensconced in Mozilla whenbooted and logged on to Mozilla. AVG toolbar doesn't show in programs and features, CCleaner uninstall, or Revo uninstaller. Ran Toolbar cleaner,AVG Toolbar uninstaller, CCleaner for registry, rebooted, searched, and for a change found no trace of AVG. Won't know for a while if its really gone

there is nothing left of it now. When you delete, use Revo to clean it includes the registry files and folders. just uninstall it with revo and revo do the rest. you just click select all registry and the folders mark them all then delete and done. and re enter your home page in Firefox settings.

Forget third party uninstallers - do it yourself. You're lucky you use Firefox because it's more configurable than IE and Chrome etc. Open Firefox and type about:config into the address bar and hit Enter. Accept the "Here be dragons" warning and type AVG into the search bar. When the screen shows up the found entries, either delete them or replace the reference to AVG to whatever you want to use as a toolbar.

Job done to a point - then press the Windows key and R together and into the Open box, type msconfig and press Enter. Under the StartUp tab, untick anything AVG related - VProt might also be there and that's part of AVG. Click Apply then to the same in the Services tab. Click Apply and OK your way out then restart the computer.

I'll be one very surprised bunny if AVG survived that.

I did - Open Firefox and type about:config into the address bar and hit Enter. Accept the "Here be dragons" warning and type AVG into the search bar. no results. Then - ress the Windows key and R together and into the Open box, type msconfig and press Enter. Under the StartUp tab, unticked AVG. VProt not there. Clicked Apply. AVG not in running services - also not in services in task manager. restarted. Reboot ed - search AVG - still a lot of avg folders, including search.

sskeleton10 won't mind - he's three months away from here by now. So if AVG isn't in about:config you can't see it's Toolbar in the View menu in Firefox. That makes it difficult to see how it could be active unless it hides under another name. The only place left to look is in the Registry so press Windows and R together, type regedit into the Open box and press Enter.

This is a risky place to mess with so start from the File menu then Export and note the name and location of the backup you're about to create.

Then from the Edit menu go to Find and type AVG into the box. Delete all the relevant keys but beware - avg can be an abbreviation for average so you will need to tread carefully. Once you found one, the Function 3 key will continue the search.

ok this seems to have worked - search programs and files for avg. for each item opened properties and copied filepath - used revo forced uninstall with each specific path. Seems clean through several boots. anyone know how i could have gotten it in the first place??

Well done - you probably got it all in th eend. As to how it got there, whenever you download anything, watch carefully for tick boxes which are ticked by default offering you the junk you don't need. This is typically Norton, McAfee, Google Toolbar or Chrome or both, the Ask Toolbar and in your case AVG. Loads of other pieces of rubbish can get through in the same way - mainly search engines, so-called PC optimisers and Registry cleaners.

Don't forget to give the poster who suggested Revo a Best Answer.
