afox 6850 temperature issue

hi i have an afox 6850 hd that is brand new. Whenever i play farcry 3 on high settings the temperature is at 80 degrees, will my video card get damaged if I keep on playing with this temperature? Also when I'm playing I set the fan to 100 %

Your perfectly safe . Infact even if it goes over 80c don't panic, normaly the lower the temperature is the better, but depending on games and overclock GFX CARD temp can verry from 60-90c no problem :) Create a custom fan profile with msi afterburner to do it automatic. you can select this to run with windows so it will control fan automatic. Alternatively you can do it manual as your doing, Its fine no worries :)

My graphics card started to display artifacts while playing and then, after a restart, i saw rainbows in my screen.

Could this be a cause of a temperature issue or just a defective item?

no overclocking were done but the settings while playing far cry 3 was at high. And the temperature under 100 % fan was at 80 degree tops. But while playing crysis it goes to 86 degrees in which case makes me a bit worried.

Make sure you got ample air flowing through the case. your card shouldn't get so hot unless theres no room in your case or air flow is very bad. The temp you mentioned shouldn't cause any trouble unless theres any other problem. Apart from crisis 3 and far cy3 your card is ok ? Than lower the GFX details on those game to see if it improves, If you followed my previous suggestions and still continue to see artifacts namely rainbows even on other games or in windows:) should get it replaced RMA. Thanks
