Verbatim USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive 500GB

Hey, I bought this hard drive and it was working fine, however I always kept it plugged into my laptop. One day, I removed the hard drive for a while and when I went to plug it back it, it didn't appear. I have notice that when the drive is plugged in, the light is on and I can here it spinning but nothing appears in "My computer". When I remove the drive, I message pops up saving it needs to be formatted as if it was still plugged it. This doesn't work. I have tried to change the lettering of the of the drive but whenever I plug it in, this program crashes. I have tried it in another Toshiba laptop which also runs windows 7 and it doesn't work. I have also tried it in an xbox 360. It seems that whenever I run a program relating to the drive when its plugged in, it causes the program to crash. Please can anyone off any advice? I spent £50 on this and I'd hate for it to be a waste. I bought it online but not form the official site, I don't know if I have any documents of this purchase so it will be hard to return. Any help please?

plug it in then. click start, right-click on computer

then manage

click disk management, it should show up in there and if it does then you might have corrupted it

when I do that the program crashes so I can't, and how would I have corrupt it?

When I go into disk management, it appears as (F

which I renamed it to, but it should appear as verbatim. When I try and click it or change it, the program crashes, and how would I have corrupt it?

You could have corrupted it, damaged it even, by unplugging it without using windows 'eject' on it first.

Thats not really been in my control due to unexpected shut downs etc...
Is there anything I can do? I had it working a moment ago however it has crashed the windows explorer program so I cannot see the start menu or bottom bar.

hold "ctrl" "shift" and "Esc"

click file, new task

explorer.exe

it should now apear

Apparently this one is all on you. Always eject removable media.

Contact verbatim and see if its under warranty by serial number.
