Hey pbcphil,

I'm on a 955BE with a Gigabyte 880 board. I am contemplating switching over to Intel. Would you consider looking into what I am as well? An Intel Core i3-3220 with a MSI B75MA-P45 motherboard (this entry level board has 4 memory banks btw).

I think they (3220 vs 4170) should be toe to toe overall (depends on what you're going to use it with) but I feel that Intel would have a slight edge as it runs "lighter" in terms of...

For a card, it'd really depend on what you're going to play. My old 560OC was good for 1080 gaming.

Just my two cents. HTH.

Cheers I will have a look at that but my only problem is I can get the computer setup i mentioned for 220 pounds without a graphics card wouldn't the Intel be more expensive.

Not familiar where you're buying from but I'll take a shot:
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/55048/Intel-CPU-Core-i3-3220-Ivy-Bridge-LGA1155-Retail 95 pounds
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/56484/Gigabyte-Motherboard-GA-Z77-HD3-LGA1155 80 pounds

I couldn't find the board I was eyeing on in your area so I had to improvise.

220 will be more than enough :)

Not sure if you want to get a 6670 paired with a 6xxx series CPU :)

I'd try getting the MSI I mentioned earlier if you could as it's just an entry level board with good connection options. The money you save, you can add to getting a stronger card later on (660TI or 7850/70 etc.).
