  1. it should work. the Gateway's A6-5400K is a trinity apu and you are just upgrading it to the top end Trinity APU

    Ok, thanks man!
  3. it looks to me as if it would. although, depending what you want to do (gaming?) it might be better to get a 7770 GPU with that cash, and keep the APU (but just not use it's graphics portion) you would get considerably better gaming performance than getting a new APU.

The game im playing is pretty cpu dependant (dayz mod/arma 2)because of the way the servers work. But i could definitly due with a new graphics card, can you send me a link on newegg for the gpu you suggested, i cant seem to find it. Thanks for your help!

this is tad bit more expensive than the APU but it'll give you much better performance than a better APU.

Dayz is very CPU dependent, true. but you won't see any real performance increases out of a better APU (you'd need to get a half-decent intel processor for that, and those aren't cheap, and you'd need a new mobo). the GPU will get you much better frame rates.

the cheapest and most effective upgrade you can do right now would be to add a 7770 (or a 7850 if you can stomach the price increase. you'll get better performance and a copy of bioshock infinite and tomb raider. (you'll get a game with the 7770, but I'm not sure which.)

what kind of budget are you looking at?

Thanks so much for your help, my budget isnt great, its 100-160 or so.
  7. here's a video of dayz on a 7770.

    it's at 1080p, ultra.
  8. ah well, then you want to get a 7770. the one I listed is generally considered one of the best, and it'll leave you enough to buy ARMA II (if you haven't already)

although to be honest, I'd wait for the standalone. the mod is buggy as hell, and if you don't have ARMA II, I don't know anyone who plays ARMA unmodded.

yeah. well, if you already have ARMA II, then the mod is definitely great! I'm just not about to suggest that you buy ARMA II when dayz will release standalone later.

anyways, the 7770 will allow you to play graphically intensive games like BF3 and crysis 3 at decent settings and good framerates.

Thanks again, i think il spring for the 7850, a bit more but i think it will be worth it!
