Yup you really "can" overclock on it in a way but yeah you won't if you do not wish to. And yes the i5 get similar performance to the i7 is light video editing, it's when you get into the heavy stuff were the i7 shines.

If you're not getting an i7 3770k, you can just use an Xeon E3-1230v2 (no IGPU and 100mhz slower)Xeon E3-1240v2 (no IGPU) or an Xeon E3-1245v2 (with IGPU)

The E3-1230v2 is only $10 more than the 3570k

They range from $10 cheaper to $50 cheaper

Be sure to get the 64mb cache version of the seagate drive

You can also consider the FX8350 as a very valid alternative to the i5 3470 as it video stuffs it can beat the i5's and is still decent for games

I agre with the FX8350, it performs better than the i5 but you would have to change the mobo as well. The xeon is only meh" for this kind of stuff, it is under used for a reason.

Well the Xeon's are basically cheaper i7's so they are a pretty valid price/perf choice compared to the i7

I don't think the OP has bought the mb yet so still pretty flexible in choosing an platform

IF the OP only plans on doing light video editing it really is not all that necessary in the first place. Buy what you need not what you will not end up using.

Ok so I Should Get Xeon E3-1230 v2

not a i5-3570k?

Whats the reasoning?

How does this Particular Xeon go aganist the AMD FX-8350?

The Xeon E3-1230v2 is the exact same as the i7 3770 but 100mhz slower

The Xeon e3-1240v2 is the same speed as the i7 3770 but still cheaper

The 3770 isn't that much faster than the i7 2600 either since ivy is only about 5% faster IPC

That anandtech bench shows the FX trailing in pretty much everything though it may be better price/perf, also consider power savings
