Built in mic not working

Hi i have an hp laptop with a built in mic maybe a month ago i was on skype it was working fine but now its not m mic isnt showing up anywhere on the computer not in the control panel sound page or anything and i clicked to show disabled device its as if it disappeared i have tried the microsoft fix it thing and tried downloading the realtek high def audo thing i even tried downloading the conexant smart audio thing, and its not like i can just restore because i have no idea when the last time i used the mic was please help.

A quick Google search brings up an influx of problems exactly like yours, and it seems to be a flaw that some HP Laptops have. If it is still under warranty, you can send it in, or, if you are up to it, take off the speaker cover and try to see if any of the connecting wires are broken.

Ok, I understand, the best I can do for you right now is suggest that you bring it into a laptop repair shop and tell them your problem. Most likely, the guy will have seen it before, and will know what to do. Sorry about that.

One issue.. if its designed like my older HP DV6, the mic is not in the speaker assembly, its in the bezel of the display, near the webcam, even further making it a bad idea for the guy to try it on his own.

Thank you anyway i have been wracking my brain with this one now that i know that this is a hardware issiue i'll probably just get a plug and play mic i saw a few on ebay thanx

yea mine is an hpdv9000 it is in the bezel

Well that really doesn't change much beside that if you decided to try and fix it, it would be a little harder. If you are not comfortable fixing it though, I wouldn't hesitate to avoid taking apart your laptop. While some computer repairmen know what they are doing, most of them will reimburse you if they break it further lol.
