Hello i am using a HP pavilion dv6 laptop with
intel core i3 cpu m 350 @ 2.27ghz

Ram 4.00 gb (3.80 gb usable)

System type 64-bit operating system

ati mobility Radeon HD 5650

Last year i got skyrim for the lpatop and it ran fine for couple months on high then all off a sudden it takes forver to load and the lag was next to unbearable so i just stopped playing eventually i just reinstalled windows on the laptop then hey presto! it works perfect again and wouldn't you know it a month later it starts taking forever to load and when it eventually does it was super laggy so i just used a restore point to a wee while after i reinstalled windows and it worked again... then a couple weeks later the same problem occurs but this time it doesnt work when i go back to (what i rember as being) a working restore point. I want to get to the root of the problem and i know i won't be able to figure it out by myself and if i reinstall windows the same thing will happen again! any help is welcome.

Is your hard drive full? Or is it broken? I don't know what else to think.

load times are mostly hard drive. i dont expect your laptop to have a high end hard drive either. when you say long time how long are we talking? is the game modded? if so what mods? also how much vram do you have and have you messed with the amount of hard drive caching?

usually around 2-5 minutes compared to load times of about 20 seconds when it was working properly no mods on the game. dedicated video ram is 1024 mb as far as i know no hard drive caching has been done (no idea what that means)

hard drive caching was the wrong word to use. i meant virutal memory but even that wouldnt cause that long of a load time. i suspect its a conflict of resources amoung installed programs fighting over the little amount of ram you have and little amount of cpu you have. look into how much resources your background apps are taking.
