I currently got a HDD with Windows 7 and some other stuff and then i got a new HDD because my current HDD is starting to fail.

So what i want to do is delete everything on the current HDD and then install my current Win7 from my current HDD on to the new HDD.

So how do i do this..?

Thanks in advance!

um when you say install your current win 7 from your current hard drive, are you saying you want to install a fresh copy of windows 7 using the same product key or you want to clone/copy your current w7 installation to your new hard drive?

>Backup everything
>Boot Win7 CD
>Install OS to NEW HDD

Simply like this?

I might use the old HDD for storage purpose because the only problem for my current HDD is very slow at startup everythings "Not Responding" for awhile and i dunno why.

You might want to make sure all drives are disconnected except for the one you will be installing the OS to. This will not only prevent you from mistakingly installing to the wrong drive, but it will also force windows to put the OS and boot loader on the same drive.

You can reattach the remaining drives once windows is installed.

That is exactly what I would suggest doing, just so you only have your new hdd available to install windows 7 on. After windows 7 is installed connect your other drives, but please be aware that you must have your bios hdd boot order set correctly otherwise your computer might boot from an older hdd first.

So its okay to have both HDD to have my same OS on? i just have to set the boot drive order?

Disconnect OLD HDD
Connect NEW HDD
Install Win7 with same product key
Set BIOS boot order
Connect OLD HDD
and all set?

Does this method works the same with SSD's?

like this
Disconnect OLD HDD
Connect NEW HDD
Install Win7 with same product key
Connect OLD HDD
Set BIOS boot order
all set

functionality wise, yes it is on to just leave windows installed on your old drive (though you lose the drive space taken by the previous version)

legally, um idk if that violates Microsofts terms of service, maybe someone else can chime in and provide some insight
