Looking to UPGRADE

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @ 2.66GHz, 8.0 GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 and I want something faster and more powerful but I'm not sure if I should upgrade or purchase new....I'm trying to do this for around $550...thanks.

I would save up a bit more and wait for Haswell (new range of Intel CPUs due) and the new Nvidia GTX 7xx series. Your current system isnt too bad and these are close to release, so worth waiting a little while.

Upgrading you can pick up the Intel® Core™ i5-3570K, ASRock Z77 Extreme4, and 8GB of DDR 3 1600 and a good video card for a little over your $550 budget.
