system startup problem

Hi Friends , i use
Dell INSPIRON 580 s ,when i start my system it shows black screen for a minute then only it shows welcome screen and sometimes it shows the welcome screen then it shows the black screen for a minute and then show the desktop ( i mean i system stays blank for a minute before doing either things) and if i put my system in sleep m not able to wake it up .. please somebody help me ..

reboot the pc, press f8 untill you have advanced startup options. choose safe mode. when it boots click start type msconfig, click the startup tab. Look for any strange or unneeded programs running at startup and uncheck them.

have you scanned for malware yet?

i scanned some months before . and nothing found..

It didn't work for me .. i tried but the condition still persist..

Anything could have infected the PC since you last scanned it. Have you tried one of the bootable diagnostic CDs to see if you can access your data on your hard drive that way? One possibility is that your drive is failing.
