Does anyone know any companies that will collect my old electrical items to be recycled..... I live in Birmingham. Some one told me about www.electricalwasterecycling.com but I would like more options then just one! It's a big city surely there is more then one.... I know that scrap men will take them but I would like more assurance that the electrics are going to a legitimate recycling place. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about that one, in Grand Rapids MI, there is a place called Comprenew that I take my old gear to: http://comprenew.org/

It's a physical store (there are 3 of them), it's a non-profit that supports some Christian group.

Some cities also provide "recycling" but I don't know what they do with the stuff after they get it.

Best buy or staples is probably the most readily available. Otherwise google "recycle electronics birmingham" will help to find places as most are locally operated. Many companies also have recycling programs for their own products and will provide free shipping.

Electricalwasterecycling.com was good for me, collected my old washing machine no probs. I think k1114 is right do a local search. Local businesses tend to offer the better friendlier service. I know you wanted to know about other ones available ghallb28 but the one you know of is, in my opinion, very good and more importantly free lol
