I have a brand new Toshiba DT01ACA100 1 TB Hard Drive. The computer picks it up in the Bios & it is shown in Disk Manager (Win 7) as an Unknown Not Initialized Disk. When I start Disk manager it wants to initialize it & gives me an option between MBR (master boot record) & GPT (guid partition table). When I select either option & click OK, it says Data Error (cyclic redundency check) & fails to initialize it.

I took out my other drive, running only the one disk & wanted to install a fresh windows 7 operating system on it, but it doesn't want to install onto the disk or even format or create partitions on it.

Is there a way to fix the disk without having to return it to the vendor & get a new one?

You told us the Hard Drive model number, now lets check the computer model number for compatibility issues.

Your model number should be on the bottom of your laptop, or if it's a desktop on the front side...and sometimes the back, top, or bottom.
