ive been thinking about this... lets say you have two hard drives one with windows and one with not. if the hard drive without windows got infected with a virus could the virus jump drives and infect the next? is that even possible?

Absolutely. A virus can infect anything, anywhere. That includes JPG's, RAR's, 7Z's, ZIP's, MP3's or MPG's, or anything else accessible to any PC the virus is sitting on.

Of course. If you have application that is infected on any drive (HDD, USB) in your PC and you execute it then it will attack environment in which is if virus is designed to do that. In your case it will attack windows on another disk. That's simple example.
