Best Graphics Card for XP

Just recently took possession of a computer with some slightly dated innards. It's running XP (and I have no plans of changing that or any of the components for that matter).

My system has the following components:

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Callisto
Gigabyte GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H
4GB Ram (although XP only sees 2.75)

With these parts in mind, what would be the best graphics card option that wouldn't be held back by the other components. Thanks

what kind of power supply do you have, and whats your budget.

also a side note, xp should be seeing more than 2.75gig of ram, unless some is shared for onboard video. not a big amd guy so im not sure about that.

yes thats right...his igp takes up a bit of ram...its a 32bit os...so id say a gtx650 or a 7770. or if the psu is junk, a 7750

It has a Corsair HX620 PSU and my budget can go up to $200 (any higher and I would assume that the other components would be holding it back)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't XP only support DirectX as high as 9?

10.1 if im not mistaken...i played hitman absolution at 10.1 on my old 9600gt albeit on win7. and stalker clear sky. if i went to dx11 mode it wouldnt play it because my gpu wasnt a dx11 card. i dont beleive dx11 can be played in a 32bit os.

interesting...i never heard of that problem. if i had a 32bit os and insatlled a dx11 card would it play at dx11 levels??

Would a 7770 or GTX650 still be a good recommendation with my setup?

No DX10 or 11 on Windows XP it ends at version 9. That does not mean a new card will not work but you will not go higher that DX9 because that is all Windows XP supports.
