Hello. I have a new computer that I had just recenly purchased and put together.

Here are the specs:
Motherboard

ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+

CPU

AMD FX-6100

RAM

Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB (DDR3 1333 MHz)

Video Card

Sapphire Radeon 6570 (1GB)

Hard Drive

Western Digital Blue 500GB (7200 RPM, 16MB Cache)

Optical Drive

Lite-On Internal DVD Writer

Case

Cooler Master Elite 430 Mid Tower

Power Supply

Corsair CX430 V2 Series 430 Watt

Before I go any further, I have my old 500GB HDD in at the moment. Didn't know if it mattered if a new or old one affected anything.

When I first put it together, my computer wouldn't turn on. My friend came over last night and got it to power on but no display shows up. When you put a CD into the disk tray, it boots up and you can hear it run.

I'm needing to fix this display. I'm putting my hope into the community here.

Thanks for your time and hopefully someone can help me.

The first thing you should do if you have a no boot problem is check this guide to ensure EVERYTHING is setup right.

A general rule is to listen for the pc speaker beep codes(if you connected one. This is not related to the sound card at all)

Now it is always best to remove EVERYTHING you do not need.

So make sure all you have is the power supply, cpu/heatsink, video card and one stick of memory. So disconnect any sata cables or un-needed usb devices(this includes card readers if you have one you only need the keyboard.). Ensure all your fp connectors(Pwr_LED,HDD_LED,Power Switch,Reset, ect) are right and try again.

If you have not tried, clearing the cmos may also be a good idea. You should have a jumper near the battery that you can move to the clean position then back after about 10 seconds. This is best done with the power supply disconnected from the wall outlet.

So I just checked and I forgot to install the standoffs. I also found a read and black cord that is labeled SPEAKER.

Sorry to bug you about it. I'm just new to building computers. I have my manual. I just never saw anything about it.

There should be a diagram there of the board layout, there are some boards that do not have it and some that have a built in speaker. It is handy if you have to troubleshoot but does really nothing for a fully functional system and can be skipped.

I found it. As far as I know, everything should be good. I'll give it a try now.

Okay! So that worked! If i have any more problems, I'll be back!

If your fan(s) spin slow, You may need to decrease the setting in the bios. You do not need to make them faster, just lower the warning trigger level.

Most times this is in the hardware monitoring section.
