Try this then .Connect the USB to your PC and then go to my computer and right click on the USB icon and click on format, Format to NTFS or FAT32 tick the box that says "Quick format" press Okay and you will be able to use the USB as normal.

Hi all,

I had the exact same problems with the exact same potential solutions that never worked for me. I found a utility tonight that fixed my 32GB PNY usb drive. It's called RecoverTool_V2.00.28_L0920.

I had probably read at least 40 forums with the same problems and this was finally the fix. It allowed me to disable write protection and format the PNY drive and start over. I did lose all data but I didn't need it. I just wanted to use it. Good luck!

Robiett2 had the answer. I tried it and it worked for my write protected pny 64G
http://www.pny.com.tw/index.php?cls=2&mode=download
It downloads a tool that is archived (.rar). My windows 8 PC knew how to unzip it but mw windows 7 pc did not. So you may have to get a unarchiver for RAR files.
