ok I have a laptop gateway nv50a and replaced the hard drive..i used the recovery discs to restore my os yet the laptop will not boot from the hard drive it does in fact show in the the bios I turned off network booting as well as moved it up to the first spot in the boot list I tried recovery again and it now says that I am able to use system restore wich shows that it did copy to the HDD but it still says (no bootable device)....any idea what I going on?

heres the short list new hard drive

os installed with recovery disc

HDD shows in bios

have proven that the recovery did infact install to new HDD

still shows that there is no bootable device

also sorry for the poor typing im a little frustrated

it could be that the recovery disk is just a drive clone program and it not setting the mbr/boot record right for the drive. try hirem boot cd and run fix mbr from it. us old school installers we do a fdisk on new drives and put a partion on the drive then format the drive then run the restore cd.
