Got a strange problem here.. I recently built a new machine with a MSI 970A-G46 motherboard. Aside from this one issue it seems great but when I power down the machine and come to turn it back on, the Ethernet port refuses to acknowledge the presence of a network cable. At first at least, after giving it a few more reboots and plenty of time to think it eventually picks up the connection and away you go, works solid as a rock.

I don't really want to have to leave the machine on 24/7 so here are the things I've tried so far:

Updated the BIOS
Installed the latest drivers available from MSI
Disabled "Allow Windows to shut off this adaptor to save power"
Tried various different cables cat5, cat5e and cat6 (shouldn't make a difference anyway?)

I'm leaning towards the fact that this board may just be dodgy because I can't find any other posts regarding this specifically but if anyone has any ideas the help would be most appreciated .

If the full spec is required here it is:

AMD Athlon II X3 445 3.2GHz
MSI AM3+ 970A-G46
4GB Corsair PC3-10600
MSI 6850 Cyclone
Corsair 500watt PSU
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit

Many thanks for the help

Thanks, I think you're probably right. I'll get one ordered, far less hassle than sending the board back.
