We develop software (means spend lot of time with text editors) and does bit of Photoshop and video publication work too. Any recommendation for cost effective monitors to satisfy our need properly. We are planning to purchase 2 monitors for every developer and hence product quality, reliability, cost and monitor view angle adjustment facilities are very much essential. Please recommend type of monitor model and brand.

Thanks in advance!

For such usages, I would prefer the old fashioned 4:3 monitors, 19" should be enough.
I can read better with those monitors.
The problem is that it is not that easy anymore to find them and the technology used for those monitors seems to be outdated.
I dunno why companies decided not to build them properly anymore, it is a pity.
I dunno if you can still find HP Compaq LA1951g if you like this solution.

The next alternative is to get 16:10 monitors.
In the office, I received 2x Dell U2412M and I find it very comfortable to read.
I use them mainly to do programing in C and MATLAB/Simulink, reading some circuit diagrams, writings documents, etc.
IPS screen will also very helpful for photo and video editing.

I even bought one U2412M at home since I like it very much, I use it mainly for movies and gaming.

Another vote for the Dell U2412M: 1900x1200, tilt, rotate and reasonably priced.

I bought one too.
