display not coming on

my computer running with win xp when i switch it on everything comes on fans rotate but keyboard not working and monitor still in standby mode ,i changed the vga cable but no progress, when i remove cable it shows cable not connected so there could be no problem with monitor .The VGA cable is connected to on board vga port
sys config
RAM-512mb
HDD-80gb-win7
-40GB-win xp

can anyone solve it out for me ,thanks for the help in advance..

You're going to have to trouble shoot.

1st, Check the connections on your video card, to the motherboard and any power connections to your video card.

if that fails

2nd, install a different video card and see if it works, if it does not, the problem is something else. If it does, update your drivers for your current card, reinstall it and try it.

if that fails but the system displayed with a different card...

3rd, get a new video card.

If that doesn't solve it, then come back and I will help you some more.

no the problem is with onboard vga port and i have no external vga card
