first i would like to appreciate ppl on tomshardware forum, for helping me choose my rig (budget gaming rig), em posting it under GPU section, as i care for my GPU i.e why i want to find a soln to my PSU.

right now em running on a very week psu (chk link below for spec of psu),which is 3+ years old, even though it's local and it's 12v rail is weak em able to run my system without any issues (but sometimes no display with gpu fan runs at 100%, which can be fixed by restarting) recently i've played games like crysis 1, BF2, NFS MW2, NFS HP2, star craft 2, completely maxed out @1080p

questions:
1>em plannin to upgrade my psu to save some electricity bills from my old psu and safe guard my rig esp my GPU.
2> or is it safe to continue till my psu fails and replace with branded one
3>psu suggestion?? for hd 5770,with wealthy 22-25AMP on 12v rail(someone suggested me according to my gpu, correct me if em wrong). em on tight budget.
and along with psu em planning to buy new cabinet (zebronics bijili 2 with 4*120mm led fans of molex connectors).

system spec:
core 2 quad q8300 @2.5GHz (bought one from friend) with CM HYPER212
gigabyte G41m combo rev 2.0 (LGA 775) (new one)
transcend 4gb ddr3 1333MHz (new one)
segatte 500gb sata (from old system)
PSU=FRONTECH jil 2414b
ACER 24" 1080P LED MONITOR
ATI HD 5770 (bought one for dirt cheap i.e 1500inr/30usd)

right now my gpu is connected with a 2xmolex to 6 pin pcie connector and optical drive, gamepad, unplugged to save some power.

Well, for starters, a PSU will never "bottleneck" your system. A component is "bottlenecking" the system if it is holding back the performance of the rest of the components.

The problem with an unreliable PSU is that it can cause instability (crashes/freezing) and ultimately exposes your components to danger. While a better PSU may reduce your power draw through greater effiency, don't expect drastic changes.

The main advantage of having a good PSU is that it will last a lot and will protect your components from power surges/spikes. My preferred brand for PSUs is Seasonic, though there are other good ones like Enermax, Antec, etc. Keep in mind that PSU's sold by companies known for making other parts (XFX, Corsair, OCZ, etc) are made by another company and branded for selling. My recommendation would be this one:

The q8300 is a 95 watt part.
The HD5770 is a 110 watt part
Add in 50 watts for the chipset, fans, and drives, and your at a total system max load wattage of 255.

I cant find your PSU online, and your imageshack wont work.
On the PSU label find the 12volt amperage rating. If the 12 volt amperage is 22 or higher you should be ok.
12volts x 22amps = 264 watts.

ok will fix with cx 430, but my cpu cabinet has only option to mount psu at top corner, will this be compatible (i mean psu upside down for proper airflow) if you want proper pics of cabinet plz ask me. will buy good gaming cabinet aft few months :(

While this power supply really is of bad quality, these calculations are not accurate.

1. From the 110w the 5770 uses, 75w come straight from the PCI-E lane, which is powered by the 3.3V and 12V rails. I believe 3A comes from the 3.3V rail.
2. The chipsets are also powered by the 3.3V.
3. We should consider typical load and efficiency.

I don't really like Corsair for PSUs, but the one ASHISH65 suggested is actually pretty good, both the CX and the CXV2. The CXV2 has upgraded transistors for PFC and 12V rectifiers, so it is more efficient. The CXV2 has 80plus certification, whereas the CX does not. Both of these models are designed and manufactured by CWT (Channel-Well Technology), then branded by Corsair.

Good Link, I'm going to add this article to my favorites.

I was trying to simplify the issue by providing an estimation of a real world max wattage draw as a guide. There really isn't much in the way of calculations just estimates of max draws added together. In reality this system would use far less and the PSU on hand might be ok. But if the user wants to play a game or run an application that taxes both the CPU and GPU I believe that PSU will struggle to provide enough power.

Once you start adding in the amperage on the 3.3volt rails and 5volt rails (which are largely irrelevant to conversations about is my PSU big enough) the simple example gets complex. I have never seen a computer that had an issue because the PSU could not supply enough 3.3 or 5v power. Normally cheap PSUs labeled at 400w can put out 200watts of 12volt power (often not enough), and 200 watts of 3.3v and 5.v power which is more than enough.

Indeed, only estimates can be made, and true enough, the 12V rail is the most demanded one. There is also the case for low-cost PSUs that 5V from the 12V rail, although they are supposed to be independent. Some newer designs also employ DC/DC converters for improved efficiency. I just thought it would be nice to add that info.

I also asked the mods to move this into the Power Supply section.

finally bought a cx v2 @ 2550INR at sp road, before i thought it's 28A @ 12V rail, but it's 32A@ 12V rail, sweet. :) my next buy would be a cabinet with somethin like transperent side panel like nzxt m59/cooler master elite 430, plz suggest me some.( budget upto 3k but can extend upto 3.5k if VFM, mainly for looks ;P )
