I've looked through the forums and all the responses are outdated so looking for something more recent. My pc only has the stock 250w power supply so looking for a graphics card that will work in this slim case. Card must be low profile and PCI x16. All the old suggestions say that the HD 5570 works fine with this power supply but it looks like that card was discontinued. Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm not looking for a super powerful gaming rig, just something to run SC2: Heart of the Swarm on better that LOW settings like I currently play.

Additional Details
Here are my pc specs:
-Dell Inspiron 545s case
-- Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E7500 (2.93GHz,3M,1066MHz,FSB)
-- 16X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
-- 6 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (4 DIMMs)
-- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium
-- 750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)

I'd like to do this without upgrading the PSU. Its a TFX and they are harder to come by. I'd have to order through ebay for anything in the 300w-400w range.

I ordered the 6450, but now I'm having second thoughts. Should I have gone for the 6570 and its superior performance or is that card too much for my system?

What resolution?

My media pc has a 6450 and it plays plays borderlands 1 at med settings 720P and older games (2002-2005) on full
You should be able to play on low for sure at 720P maybe not at 1080P with a resonable frame rate.

BUT mine has 512 DDR3 with a 64 bit memory bus (important) in place of 32 bit like most other cards

If you have the links to the exact cards I would be happy to help. Really if the 6450 is not setup like the one I have it is really gonna suck

I wouldn't trust a Radeon 6670 with that PSU. A Radeon 7750 consumes less power than even the Radeon 5550 (which is already less than the Radeon 6570) and the Radeon 7750 performs around the Radeon 6770, maybe a little better with current drivers, so it's the clear choice if OP can afford it. If not, then perhaps a GT 640 is affordable.

Regardless, I'd definitely say that the Radeon 6450 is too weak to really consider. If OP had to go above the Radeon 6450 but below the Radeon 7750 and GT 640 in price, then a Radeon 6570 might be as high as I'd recommend for that PSU. It'd be much, much better than a mere Radeon 6450.

Oh I def agree the 6570 is much faster but 250 watts seems sketchy for any of the cards you suggested.

7750 less pwr than the 5550 I did not know that very interesting

Ok everyone... so this is the card I had ordered but am planning to cancel: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Radeon-Silence-Profile-PCI-Express/dp/B004X8EO6Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363819983&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+6450

This is the card that I'm now looking at based on your suggestions:
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-R6570-MD1G-LP-Video/dp/B005V22R0S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1363820124&sr=8-1&keywords=6570

Keep in mind, I'm currently working with a GMA 3100! Anything is a step up for me, but I want the best setup that will work on my PSU. My PSU is a Bestec TFX0250D5W if that helps. Like I said, I currently play HOTS on low settings. It works fine for multiplayer, but the campaign has lots of textures that go black randomly and I have to tab in and out to get them to reappear. I'm just looking to improve my framerate and bump up my graphics. Not going for Ultra settings here. Aside from the occasional gaming, I use it stream movies to my TV. My budget is around $70 so if you have any better recommendations, let me know.

I tried to find a 7750 but came up short. I need low profile and couldn't find one. Appreciate the help. This community rocks.

I just posted some additional info on my post. If I can get the game to run on medium I would be more than happy, but if all it does is fix my texture issues I would be just as happy. My main concern is power consumption for my system. Let me know what you think.

But as far as power goes... the 250w can handle the 6570?

No it doesn't.
