Foreword: I will probably leave information necessary out of this, fell free to inquire.

In my computer right now, I have a crucial m4 ssd, an asus blu ray drive and a western digital hdd. Currently, when i pull up "My Computer" to save anything the ssd and blu ray are the only options, the Western Digital does not show up at all.

I went into the Device Manager, looked under Disk Drives and it is there, I can change the properties, but I don't know how to fix the problem. I went into BIOS and that HDD is definitely there, as it shows up for options for things. What do I need to change so when I want to save something under my computer, my HDD shows up?
OS is windows 8
HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533
Ask for any more information or clarification you need!
Thanks!

Solution
Sounds like you not done basic prep of Hard drive.
You need partition it and format it...
In Win 7 (you can hopefully convert these instructions to Win 8) to go
Start -> Control panel (make sure in category view) -> system and security -> under the "administrative tools" section - select the "create and format hard drive partitions"
You should see your drive there.. and you can partition and format it. ..
that will prob be enough to get it show in "my computer"
If it all looks a bit scary and you don't know what to do..ask a friend.. or google each bit for more details.

Cheers

It has never been visible under "My Computer", it is new (a couple weeks old) and I have never saved anything to it. I have not formatted it, changed any settings, etc. I do not know where the option to hide empty drives is? That might very well be the problem

open an explorer, right click, select manage.

In the management tool, open the disk management, and you sould see your drive in there (the lower half).

Select it, right click and you'll probably have to start with getting the drive going, start with initializing it if required, then partitioning it, then formatting it (a quick format should be fine)

Under the disk create and format hard drive partitions there is a top half whit my c drive (ssd) my blu ray and then a "system reserved". these are the ones it allows me to format. On the second half below that I can see the blu ray, the ssd and my not working hard drive, but when I right click on the HDD the only options are convert to dynamic disk, convert to GPT disk, properties and help. Only the disks in the upper half have the "format" option

I think you are not clicking in right area.. you don't click on the drive name grey area.. you click on the area to the right..
I think this may be beyond your tech competence... but as a last attempt .. try this link

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/disk-management-windows-8.htm

note the extra links at top of that page for help with the further steps. .you will need to partition and format your drive
Good luck
