Hey guys! Would like your input on a new build for my bro, he wants to build a desktop and use it for strictly playing battlefield 3, I would like to know the cheapest way in order to play it on highish settings with 60+ fps

Approximate Purchase Date: Anytime, already have the money.

Budget Range: Just as cheap as possible, would like to see a couple of different builds like one with amd stuff, and one with intel and nvidia.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Battlefield 3 only

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, this will be a new build

Preferred Website(s) Newegg mostly, since I use shoprunner for free 2 day shipping to hawaii, amazon works too though

Location: Kihei, Hawaii

Parts Preferences: anything goes.

Overclocking: Maybe, probably not though

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: My bro just wants to play bf3, I will pick out the case, mouse and keyboard, so no need for those, also I do know quite a bit about intel/Nvidia and a little bit about amd cards, but not much on the amd processor and lower amd cards, I have built a couple of computers before so this isn't new to me, just looking for some advice :)

Thanks guys!

OK, you should give us a price range. A"cheap" BF3 build to a rich guy could be only $1500. A "cheap" BF3 build to a poor guy could be $300.

You can hit 60+ FPS, but it could be out of your price range.

My price range is $1,000. Don't even wanna spend that much, but you get my point, just wanna see how cheap I can get it while still being able to play around mid-high settings at 60 fps, and I see what your saying, I just want as cheap as possible, so just refer to me as the poor guy :D

There are lots of card which seem to hit 60+ FPS at 1920x1080. You can see them here:

Pick a card you think is adequate and build your system around that. I think you can easily do it for under $1000, probably far cheaper than that.

You should only need 8GB of RAM, under 250GB drive, at least a AMD 7870 or an overclocked 7850 or better. A decent PSU from Corsair, Seasonic, Cooler Master, etc. As for processor, the 3570K should be good, but you can go cheaper if you need to.

If you want specific parts, I'm sure someone will come along and provide a pcpartpicker list for you. :)
