Solution
After searching all day I've found a solution to the problem in another forum.

Navigate to this folder,
c:\Users\Your name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\1033\
And delete the file StructuredQuerySchema.bin

Its that simple, my search started working straight away. With so many complicated fixes and solutions why didnt microsoft know about this.

Wow! Yes! I've been having this problem, nothing would search, not even programs, not even categories in Control Panel. I just tried to work on it today, reindexed 55K+ items, nothing. I deleted the file that you name, and search is working again. Thank you SO much for posting this! I'm really glad I found this before trying all kinds of complex stuff.

If you enabled God Mode(s) on your machine before this happened then you put it in a folder you shouldn't have. Move your God Mode to your desktop and see if your search starts working again.

This did not work for me.
Yes, fund the file "StructuredQuerySchema.bin"
Deleted it, but then tried a search (for a file in a folder that I can see and know is right there) and yet the results were "no items match your search"
