I have an old USB adapter that works pretty well. The only problem is now that my computer setup is downstairs, I'm only getting 2 bars of signal max(if i'm lucky).
I think if I were somehow able to turn up the transmit power, I might be able to squeeze another bar or two, the only problem is that in my advanced adapter settings, under the power management tab, there is no option to increase it. Nor anywhere else in the adapter properties thing.
I'm using a HWUN2 Hawking technology high-gain 150N adapter. I have installed the latest drivers off their site and it still didn't give me the option.
I'm wondering if there is a driver I could install that would be compatible with my adapter that would give me that option? maybe a registry change? or even some 3rd party firmware.
I've been trying to find a solution thru google for a few days now and I haven't came up with anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to Hawking on the phone and they confirmed what you said. My adapter doesn't have an amplifier chip in it, so it can't be turned up.
I still don't see why I can't actually force more power thru my USB port, but honestly not sure if that would even help vs fry my adapter.
