I keep hearing about a software called Virtu, Just wondering what is it? Is it like Software SLI or something?

Also does it work with Ivy Bridge?

Solution
luci virtu is a 3rd party program that more or less uses the igpu of the processor to help aid the main gpu with some of the workload. decresing power consumption and such. though the software is till buggy and doesnt always work. yes iot works with ivy bridge

^ and yes that review is dated but Virtu is still not combining the powers of the two gpus. Also it is less of a parallel processing algorithm and more a task scheduler type program. I've not taken the sensible step of re reading that review but if I can recall it correctly, virtu distributes workload between the gpu's according to complexity of the load so that it can power down the gpu below it's idling point when a task is simple enough to be handled by the IGP.

The site you linked is a bit out dated for one you do not have to connect the display to the iGPU any longer and it is recommended for best performance you connect it to your GPU instead. Even at that I have not really seen much of a difference on my i5 3570K system other than some games that had a problem with Vsync not working seem to work with Virtual VSYNC on. So for just that option it is nice in the few games that it has fixed. But as for increased performance no I have not seen any.

^ I stand corrected. Bryon thanks for pointing that out :). Also do you know if there's a comparison between performance virtu with an AMD gpu and a Nvidia one. like the gtx series performs better worse or same as an equivalent HD card both using virtu? yeah... I know that info is dated but I've not read up any new thing on virtu (never bothered).
