I had posted a thread about my laptop screen a few weeks ago to what I thought was the problem, however, I learnt something after I posted that thread and after it was answered.

Atfirst when I thought my laptop screen was turning off and on depending on what position it was in, the screen wasn't actually turning off, the screen was dimming. So right now the problem is permanent, unlike before when the laptop was moved or not in a good position, the screen would just dim, now, it doesn't com on at all.

I suspect this happened because when I was at the bus stop one day I left my bag on the bench to step away to talk to someone, I had 3 other friend by my bag, they said one the chicks that was at the bus stop went nearby my bag, put her bag near it pushing my bag in the process so my bag slid off the bench, they said it didn't hit on the side my laptop was on , but being that my laptop was already in a delicate state, I figure that finally gave the laptop the push it needed, lol.

ANYWAYS! If I spot a light on the screen I can see everything on the screen, so right now, I leave my laptop at home hooked up to my TV using a HDMI cable, which works perfectly, but a laptop is meant to be portable. So finally to my question(s)!

What does this problem sound like to you?
And is it inexpensive to fix?
Can I do it myself maybe?

Oh, it's a Dell Inspiron N5050.

Thanks in advance for taking your time out to read! And if there are other people with this problem, I hope this atleast helps you in some way too!

most likely would be it needs a new inverter or the inverter has just come loose

this is the usual fault if the screen is dim and shining a light on it still shows the stuff on the screen

this is also cheaper and easier than replacing the screen and the 1st thing i would try

the tubes could have gone on the screen but i would try the cheapest easiest solution before replacing the screen
