xp installation problem

trying to install xp on old computer that i had installed linux on and now wanted to switch back to xp but when I get to the welcome screen it hangs i guess because none of the three option will work. Enter for continue, R for repair of escape for exit.

have you given the xp disk a clean (sounds silly I know but you do not know how many times have found that to be the problem)

if that does not work you could put the Linux disk back I and kill all the drive partitions and try again with the xp disk (don't know if that will help or not)

try a different xp disk

wait for some one to think of some thing I did not
