Hi

I purchased static Ip address. I have configured static IP in my network adapter connection. And I configured websites in IIS by assigning static IP. I can view the website in my local computer where I configured IP. But I am not able to view or ping static IP from other computer or internet, in short, my static IP is not live yet.

I have not router. I have POE adapter.

1. Do I need to purchase router?
2. Can I configure it withour router?
3. Or it should be some problem from ISP?

I just want to be accessible my static IP from anywhere. What requirement step do I need to perform to make a live my static IP?

Thanks

some site can track your ip and redirect you with a simple URL, a router is simple too and you can configure it the way you want (ex: if you run a TS3 or any game server)

Make sure to check for subnet mask as by default windows will not expose to network other than some default (and basic) options...
Maybe Windows firewall protect you from be seeing by the net to avoid direct attack by a hacker (basically what a firewall is for)

You could try disabling it to see if you can acess it when the firewall is off, if yes, reconfigure the firewall correctly...

Also make sure you're using the ISP ip, not the local ip go to ipchicken or speedtest.net and you'll see our real ip

1. Firewall is Off.
2. Speedtest.net is showing my static IP address.

ok so you still can't ping your ip in the windows cmd (windows key+r, enter: ping -t -a ""YOUR-IP"", ctrl+c to stop) ???

I'm not a expert in POE adaptor (never used any) so i can't really much help you more than that as the problem i've encountered in the past was on the firewall, routeur side... I'm sorry, maybe you could contact your ISP customer service and they'll surely have a competent guy (only 1 lol ^^) and they would help you with that...

my ISP employees are not so intelligent to fix the issues. :wahoo:

anyways, thanks for your help.

I can ping from my local machine but not from another machine.

One thing I tell you that, ISP has changed setting from router to bridge and DHCP to static IP. Are these setting cause the any issue?

Haha :D f**** ISPs !!! as long as DHCP, it's a compatibility "standard" so it can be detected by all device pluged-in so if your computer is detecting it, it's ok anyway

but for the bridge, it could cause the trouble as the real ip wouldn't be the bridge ip, it'll be a hidden ip from the other side of the bridge (don't know if the bridge is on your side or on their...) If the bridge is showing in your local connections, try to use the ip that is specified with this one, if you only have 1 internet connection, it's because the bridge is on your ISP side...

a solution surely exist, but i don't know it as i've never encounter this trouble...

I know for a fact that if you have a dynamic ip, you could configure your router or even a URL to redirect you to the correct ip all time (you'll enter the URL or the routeur's ip to acces your computer) so if you can't resolve the issue at all, consider returning to dynamic...
