Sorry Op i read your statement wrong. With a 660ti unless you can afford a 680-690-titan there is no point to upgrade imo.

MSI Z77 mobo Corsair HX750 psu and 2 1920x1080 monitors. I'd really like to game in 3 1080p monitors so that's what this upgrade would be for. I don't really know if going a step to a 690 is worth it for the price and if it isn't, I just won't game on 3 1080p monitors and I'll stick to my 2 monitors.

With a GTX 660 Ti the only cost effective performance increase is to SLI the card.

The 660 Ti scales fairly well with SLI, but then you need to decide how happy you are with your PC's current performance. The downside to SLI is drivers. You're a lot more driver dependent when running SLI then not. With new games, you'll tend to discover SLI decreases performance until Nvidia releases a new driver with said new game in mind.
