PC shuts down unexpectedly

Hi there.

I recently upgraded my gaming pc, and after 2 days it started to suddenly shut down, and wait for 5 sec and power up again. Somtimes it only restarts for 2 sec and shuts down again.. It was occuring more and more frequent and now in even powers down in bios settings.

It is no dumpfile created, and windows eventviewer shows a critical error happened that the system didn`t shut down properly.

I ran memtest86 and i have tried an other PSU. Temps seems ok 35c idle and max 60c at load.

spec:
psu: xfx xxx edition 650w
mb: Gigabyte ga-x77z UD3h
cpu: 3570k w/ CM hyper 212 evo
ram: Cruical ballistix tactical 2x4 gb 1866 mhz
dvd: asus
gpu: gainward 560gtx (1year)
Sound: Creative SB X-gamer (pci) 5 year
ssd: intel 330 120gb
ssd2: intel 320 80 gb (1year)
hdd: Samsung 380 gb (5years)

I am really puzzled, hopeing some of you can help out with suggestions.

Was there any problems with your ram ?

When does the problem started occuring exactly ?

Do you have another socket 1155 motherboard to test your rig on ?

Ram can cause some weird problems like this but if they are 100% good, then it might be the motherboard. Make sure all of the power cables are connected and that your ram sticks are correcty in.

I Upgraded the mobo, cpu, cpu cooler, psu, ram, ssd and dvd unit (old was ide)

The memory passed memtest86 when i ran it a couple of times.

It started with the computer rebooted while it was idle in desktop. I came back from dinner and it had restarted. Didn`t woory anything about it then. Next day while i was in the middle of a game. And later while browsing on internet. And then more and more often. Now even when i am in the uefi bios it shuts down. I also flashed bios to newest version. didn`t help.

Do you notice any slowing as before the system shuts down, or any stuttering? To me it sounds like a memory issue, but I also want to say it's the motherboard. Try swapping out the RAM and see if the issue continues. Since you upgraded your RAM, I'm assuming you still have the old sticks available...

If it's bluescreening before it restarts you may want to go into EUFI and turn off automatic reboot on bluescreen and write down the details.

Check the motherboard's physical condition, specifically the capacitors. If you notice any charring, burned spots or loose capacitors, that could very much be your problem.

No, its absolutely no bluescreen, stuttering or slowdown. Just cuts the power like pulling the plug from wall socket... It har problems booting after shutdown also. I tries to boot, then shuts back down after 1-2 sec. I then switch of main supply for some minutes and it boots again.
I have some memory sticks yes, but its ddr2-800 mhz, will it work with ivy bridge and z77?

Board looks fine physically.

Quick update:
I assembled the componets outside the case, and disconnected component by component and tried to boot.
Finnally after removing the gfx card from PCIex16 and using the internal gfx it booted properly.
I switched it of and put the gfx card back into the slot and it booted fine again.. Maybe its something with the slot on mb or the gfx? Anyone had this issue?

That's no upgrade - it's a new build minus a case. You need to take the motherboard out of the case, only stick in one stick of memory, no GTX560, no drives connected, no sound card and enter BIOS and see if you have the same problem.
If not, then add second memory and check again in BIOS. Then add boot drive and boot into windows and check with on-board graphics.
Process of elimination will get you to a conclusion whether it's hardware or software.

Yep, i assembled pc outside case and tested the memory sticks. After i tried to boot with onboard gfx only. If works well then. Eventually i put in an old 8800 gtx, and it works fine. :) Seems to be the GTX 560 failing, shuting down the system.
