Hi, I have a Dell Studio XPS 7100 with Dell Inc. 0FF3FN motherboard, AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, and ATI Radeon HD 5870.

A replaced the PSU with Corsair TX650 and stock coolers with Cooler Master TX3 and AC Accelero Xtreme 5870.

My temps go only up to 40C for CPU and 58C for GPU, so I thought I'll try overclocking but I don't know if this motherboard can take higher voltages.

Question: is there a risk of damaging this motherboard if I increase voltage on CPU and/or GPU?

Solution
More than likely the bios is locked down and wont allow overclocking.
"is there a risk of damaging this motherboard if I increase voltage on CPU and/or GPU?" yes there is always a chance of damaging hardware when overvolting.
Unfortunately not so many people aware of hidden gems in AMD based Dell models - they can be overclocked, I am living example, look at my specs!

Since this thread is "solved", if you are interested in overclocking, make a new one! And pm me, I will help you - 1055T, is it Black Edition with unlocked multipliers?

That's an interesting question. I am absolutely sure that Dell advertised my model as Black Edition, but I was not able to change GPU voltage in MSI Afterburner (it would just revert back to default 1175) and the CPU multiplier cannot be raised above default 14 in AMD Overdrive.
I've read on forums that 1055T was never released as a Black Edition, so I guess it was false advertising from Dell.

Since I'm new here I don't feel very comfortable spamming the same topic over and over, are you sure it's ok to create the same question again?

[edit] I found my order summary and I have "Graphics : 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card with Vision Black label", but no mention of Vision Black regarding the CPU: "Studio XPS 7100 : AMD Phenom II X6 1055T (2.80GHz, 512kx6)".

Unfortunately, the only Black Edition X6 tested on XPS 7100 was 1090T, yours 1055T is regular edition, so no overclock here unless you upgrade.

So, if you decide to upgrade to 1090T Black Edition your approximate costs will be (USA): 1090T on eBay now (5 days left) to buy without bidding is $140 plus $5 for shipping (not bad price), since 1090T is 125 watt (yours is 95 watt) you will need better cooler $31 at Amazon plus shipping and a few fans (maximum 3) for about $30 plus shipping. If you are interested, let me know.

Since you posted on UK site, I presume you live in UK? is this right?

I don't know your prices there, what is affordable and what is considered expensive...
