Hello,
I am running a core 2 quad with a 7850 and while playing guild wars 2 with all the settings set to low I still cannot achieve a 60 fps average. I have the latest drivers installed from amd, what gives?

My bad its a Q9550 2.83 ghz at times it runs quite choppy, I got it for a case of beer with a busted hd and just added a 7850 while I was at it. It's the wife's rig and I was expecting better performance out of it. Res is 1280x1024

I'd need more info. Your exact cpu, or psu, ram, and hard drive.

-If you have a low psu it could be bottlenecking the hard ware

-If its a bad cpu it could be bottle necking the gfx, im guessing its the iix4 from some company, because its a quad processor wouldn't exactle mean it's good with gaming, some quads are good in utilities because of hyperthreading, but has low cache, so it's bad for gaming.

-If its your hard drive then the low rpm from the hard drive could make loading times of the maps slower, decreasing fps. if its your ram, then get more ram.

Q9550 2.83ghz cpu, psu 1000 watt of unknown origin hard drive is a barricuda ST1000**** and i'm sure its 7200 rpm, mobo nforce 790i sli, ram is 4gb not sure what brand but it is ddr3. Running windows 7 home 64bit. Im guessing its the 5 yr old cpu that's ruing her day.

It previously had a gtx 280 in it should I have just left that in there, did I waste money on the 7850.

The rig doesn't seem too bad. Right now all I can think of is simple issues overlooked, such as the computer in power saving mode, or maybe the gfx card isn't used? and is using the onboard gfx if you have one.

Didn't uninstall old card but did a fresh win 7 install, no onboard gfx, maybe pwr saving mode though I will check that. I was kinda hoping it would run guild wars 2 on fairly high settings for her. I just fired up gw2 and on the lowest setting it is actually fairly smooth but still dips below 30 fps shouldn't I be able to get more out of this setup than that.

Just changed power settings from balanced to performance. See what happens.

What kind of performance should I expect from this setup. She is gonna expect to be able to play Dragon Age 3 on this thing when it launches in at the end of the year or the begining of next year.
