Long story, but I want to make sure I dont leave something out that might help you help me!

I have been getting BSOD a lot lately, found what driver was causing the most hassle, and fixed that. But now a new error has surfaced. Windows kept freezing. No error, no common activity causing it, nothing.

So I googled this, and found it was probably because my SSD needed a firmware update. I am in the middle of writing a Dissertation, so I need my PC to work. So I put "Fix SSD" at the top of my To Do list, and got straight to it.

The SSD has to be in AHCI mode for the firmware to work, so I go about trying to do this. (http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107769)

My motherboard doesnt have an option to use AHCI. Google a little more, and come across bios-mods.com where someone else had the same issue with the same motherboard. The option is apparently there. Just hidden. Someone fixed this, and I've updated the BIOS to show the option to use AHCI.

But I know that Windows doesnt like being changed from IDE to AHCI without a little tweak first. So I fix this, by using a Microsoft Script (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976). I even checked this in the Registry, and the correct entry was changed.

I restarted the computer, and changed the BIOS to AHCI mode. I then get a black screen, with a flashing cursor in the top left corner. Nothing else.

When I restart the computer, and go into the BIOS, it shows no HDD, DVDROM, or SSD. But they are findable with a little shearching. But there are no options for them. So I change back to IDE, and Windows starts. Read somewhere that once it restarts, it needs to download a driver automatically, so I leave for a little but, and restart it.

Now it wont turn on past the flashing cursor, in either AHCI mode, or IDE mode.

I need this computer for my disertation, and because of that, a wipe, and new install is not possible (I know, I should have backed up).

Any ideas on how I can fix this??? Please!

Turns out, that my Hard Drive Boot Priority changed. So I was trying to boot from nothing. It wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be. But why is AHCI mode not working?

Ok. I feel like Ive wasted your time if you've read all of this. Windows is booting in AHCI mode now. It appears that every time I change from AHCI or IDE it changes my boot devices completely.

Strange though, that it didnt complain about no boot devices being available.

Sorry again.
