I'm building a new gaming PC with following specifications:
-2560x1440p monitor Asus pb278q 60hz
-i7 3770k
-ddr3 1600 16gb ram
-128gb ssd
-asus maximus V formula
-windows 8

I would like to overclock a little.
I play hardcore games. I want to play crysis 3 in max settings at the resolution. I do a little of photoshop and autocad.

Please help me to find the best graphic card - asus dc2 gtx 680 4gb sli or asus matrix 7970 ghz cf.

Nvidia -
pros- adaptive vsync, more vram, cuda, physx, quiter, txaa

AMD-
pros- overclocking, more memry interface(384 bit>256), tressfx.

PLEASE help.

I'm not sure I would call adaptive sync a pro . . . you either care about tearing or you don't.

For AMD you have OpenCL as well, so it's not really like there are pros and cons for application calcs either.

You'll probably be pretty happy with either, and should just buy whichever one you can get the best deal on. Arguably the 6780 is faster, but most benchmarks are done at stock speeds so they will generally end up pretty darn close anyway.

I really care about tearing and adaptive vsync as quality is better than quantity.

If you care about tearing then you want vsync on. I was really disappointed when I switched up to the 670 and tried it out. It's basically like saying "I care about tearing unless my screen is slow and then I don't care what it looks like anymore". So I still just run with vsync on anyway.

Crysis 3 is going to require a more than one card. A single GTX Titan plays between 33 and 54 FPS at Very High Detail at a puny 1080p resolution. Two ATI 7970s are about the same. And those are on a 6-core CPU, and Crysis uses all 6 cores. You will need to drop a LOT more money on this thing to get Very High at that resolution. You'll want a i7-3960X and possibly 2 GTX Titans to play at that resolution at an average of 30+ FPS.

They are so similar there really is no best. Like I said, arguably the 680 is faster, but after your overclocking and tweaking you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two so just pick the one you can get the best deal on.

I think that really depends on how much you hate tearing, and isn't really something that can be answered on the forums. I also said that before, I was really disappointed with adaptive vsync since I really dislike tearing so I ended up just running with vsync on anyway.

With that said, I would add another GTX 670 if he really wants to get better frames from Crysis 3. I have a single Titan and I get between 40-45 and I want more, so I will OC or get another. And the CPU that he's going for will surely limit him in some ways. So it's either 3x 680s, 3x7970, 3x 670 or 2 Titans or 2 x 690

I just want your opinion and the reason...
