Are you buying a monitor: Nope

Parts to Upgrade: I have a blue-ray player from my laptop - is that compatible with a desktop? I'm not sure how to look up the product information from my laptop.

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Open

Parts Preferences: Prefer best option

Overclocking: If it's not difficult to do - sure!

SLI or Crossfire: Don't think my budget afford this?

Your Monitor Resolution: 1080p - using plasma tv

Additional Comments: I'd like to use this PC for games like, WoW, League of Legends, SC2 and thinking about Skyrim. I hope I can use my plasma TV as a monitor. I think I may need a wireless card so I can store the modem/router elsewhere for cable management purposes. I'm curious if I need to invest in a wireless keyboard too. I don't need a TV tuner because I can't get regular TV service.

I'm not a hard core gamer but when possible, I'd like to enjoy the most out of graphic intense games without compromising too much on performance. I had some performance issues while raiding in WoW and it was a bummer that I needed to tone down the graphics to make it through the encounter. I understand my budget may not allow for it, but it's something I'd like to consider.

And - would it be possible to plan for upgrades so that I never have to buy another pre-made ever again? Or does technology evolve that at every X years, there's a significant upgrade in hardware that I'll need to consider doing this again?

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My laptop's (HP HDX 18) dying - had it for 3 years and I think I burned out the graphics/motherboard - it shutdowns when I try to play games and it randomly shuts down when I have IE & Mozilla up. I've cancelled my cable services because I could stream shows from my laptop to my TV and it's 90% of what I'm doing now - oddly enough - the laptop doesn't shut down when I'm streaming a show or a movie.

I basically have no knowledge of hardware and I find it a bit overwhelming to read about all of the options that are out there - so I don't know sh*t from chocolate.

Thank you for reading, I would appreciate any and all feedback.

you can get an adapter to fit a laptop optical drive into a standard 5.25 inch bay. you also will still have room for a second 7870 xt for crossfire down the road but you should be good with those games.
