i found a SL8EY Intel Xeon X6850 3.33GHz 8MB 667MHz Quad Core Processor which im aware is a server processor. However, i was wondering if there were any motherboards that were capable of running this. i have found it at an insanely cheap price and would hate to pass it up. But, while searching the internet i have been unable to find much on compatability. so im unsure if there are just not any compatable motherboards or whats up with it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I believe that this is incorrect that this may actually be a single core processor?

Well sure it will run those kind of games. I had in mind some newer games like Assassins Creed 3 or Far Cry 3 or something more actual. But mobos are problem to find. What's your current budget? Maybe you can get something newer and easier to find.

budget not good lol ... these processors were found dirt cheap and i have some other components lying around so all that i really need is the mobo ... however if they are unusable then i will just have to wait ... just seemed hard to pass them up at the price if they were usuable

Well it seems that way. Obviously it's hard to find motherboard and seller knows that also otherwise it would be sold in package probably :).

If you get mobo somehow you'll get great deal from those CPU's cause i googled it a bit and saw prices. Dirty cheap as you said. :)

There are lot of options out there. You need board with 604 socket. So, search for that and try to find one with PCI-E cause most of them have a lot of PCI slots and integrated video. Anything from 2008' to 2011' should work with xeon L7345. You can always double check CPU support list of motherboard.

try pcpartpicker and see what MoBo's are compatible with the Xeon series, it will eliminate ones that are not, and if they haven't changed the socket in a while on the Xeon series, you should be able to find one, and they will link you to a source to buy it from online.

Edit: nvm, just looked, they don't have a socket 604 board on the site.
