Ok, consider me dangerous regarding hardware. Thaat being said:

Any suggestions for an inexpensive home server to run on Windows Home Server 2011 (why Home Server 2011, it's cheap)? I want it for backups for 4 user laptops and run SQL Server 2008 Express for back-ending my Windows and IIS apps.

Thanks in advance for your time and any advice you may have.

I was running it on an amd 6300 for a while. It was only running minecraft, teamspeak, and serving media files though and it did just fine.

It has an 8gig memory limit.

It would idle at about 75 watts with 2 120gig ssds and 2 2tb drives and hit about 150-170 under load.

Jeremy,

Wow, thanks for your answer. It'll take some research, but having been an app. dev. I know it will teach me. Applications Developers are notoriously ignorant of hardware -).

Marc
(BTW, I worked with a guy called Jey Ramasamy. I had to look twice at your name!)
