Hello, i work for a business fixing computers and i've got a weird situation. We have had an Acer Aspire X3470 come back to us, the problem is that the computer is shutting down on its own and not through the windows shutting down process it just all of a sudden restarts as if the reset button was pressed. Know i have ran a program to check the cpu temperatures and the cpu is running between 15 to 20 celcius. So its defeniatly not overheating. I have also ruled out the problem being the ram. So next what i did was reinstall windows, and it was still doing it. So since we had another one of these acers in stock i switched the hard drives with each other and so far it has been approxitmately an hour and both have not shut down on by themselves. So basically what i'm wondering is if anybody knows the cause of this problem? Thank you

Sorry i havent updated this thread in awhile kinda forgot about it, but anway after trying to fix this problem my business i work for sent the computer to acer technicians and they ended up having to replace the motherboard. The computer has had no issues since.

Before i switched them i only reinstalled windows on the computer that was having the problem. Should be noted that i did not format the drive, i just reinstalled over top of the previous OS.

It may be that something in registry is bad so it triggers restart. Since you have replaced HDD this bad part of registry can't be executed properly because of device ID it's linked to. There was microsoft update which fixed this kind of things but can't recall which KB was it. Since this is customers notebook you may consider to advice him to format and clean install of windows.
