This seems like to good a deal...

Solution
i dont see anything wrong with it...i looked it over for it being a open box return but it isnt. just a clearance sale they have on...i dont know the specifics of the board but the sale is legit and canada computers is a good site.
that and its very rare to find anyone using tri-sli. they prolly want to reach a quota for gigabyte mobos so they blow out the 300$ mobos noone wants for 100 bucks.
its sort of like cables. almost all electronics and computers come with all the cabling youll need anyway. so standalone cables to buy are very cheap to buy. ive seen 100$ goldplated cables selling for 9.99.
in summary its just a instore sale.

Ok I'll expand. That mobo supports AMD processors. No one wants AMD processors right now because Intels are far superior.

This mobo is probably priced as it is because they have had a hard time selling anything that supports AMD chipsets.

Go with intel.

It's not a fanboy issue, look at the following link, it's a Tomshardware CPU hierarchy chart. Notice the top rung of intel processors...and then notice that there are no AMD equivalents.

Yes and no one brought up cpu's but you...because the question was about motherboards........funny how that works.

Also its good to note that Intel may have higher performing CPUs, but when you look at price for perfomance AMD generally wins. There is nothing wrong with AMD CPUs, especially when you are on a budget. Also, the AMD equivalent of Intel motherboards is usually cheaper.

MOBOs are made to support certain chipsets. As I have already stated since this mobo supports AMD chipsets it has probably been difficult for the store to sell because the AMD processors are not competitive right now.

Also it's not really funny that MOBOs support specific chipsets...it's just how it works.

Dude, seriously, just leave. Go to some other site with your fanboy complex. This site is for helping people. You have been making completely unbased, inaccurate statements in every reply to this thread.

I am helping him. Trying to save him from wasting money. There is no fanboy issue here. The first processor I ever bought was AMD. It's just right now the product they are making isn't competitive.

Also, retailers will usually only put such heavy discounts on either A. Products that aren't selling so well, B. products they need to clear out, C. A combination of B and C.

I simply put 2+2 together here. I apologize if you think I am just pushing Intel right now. Honestly I wish AMD would step up their game and make a competitive product to help drive down the cost of processors.

But anyway, I stick with my reply that the only reason that mobo is such a steal is because it supports an AMD chipset.

You are helping no one, not everyone is building gaming computers. AMD's are a great cheap alternative for lots of things. You have no idea what they are being bought for nor was that question even brought up in the original message. I just wanted to validate the sale to make sure it was real as this saves me several hundred dollars on something I was going to have to buy either way for a project.

Go troll the gaming forum where you belong.

No one cares how you feel about Intel or Amd when it does not apply to the thread whatsoever.

I am not trolling. But if I were you'd be feeding plenty of fuel to the fire.

You asked if it was a good deal, I gave you my opinion on why I thought it was not a good deal.

You attacked my opinion, so I defended it. It is a forum after all.
