Hi I have a newly built rig and it will randomly freeze on me cant use mouse or keyboard and only fixed with a hard reboot.
ive already swapped out the psu and ram with ones from another rig I have working, still freezing.

here are the specs.

cpu-Intel'03 pentium 4 sl7j6
mobo-g41m-p33 combo
graphics card. Radeon HD 7770 2gb
ram- G.Skill Sniper 2x4gb ddr31866
Psu- 500w
OS-windows 7 ultimate
with a 320 gb harddrive

the ram isnt compatible with the mobo but from my understanding it will just lower the speed of the ram.
my next attempt at fixing it will be to go into the bios and see if the ram voltage needs to be increased to 1.5 and that will solve my freezing issue but if not please any other advice would be appreciated.

the board does support ddr3 ram but only up to 1066. the ram i have is 1866 im not sure if this is the problem or not. I plan on buying compatible ram today and testing the old ram 1 stick at a time and running memtest later today after im home from work.

I hope that helps getting it. I'm thinking though that your biggest problem is going to be the Pentium 4 processor. I mean its a shame that you have this nice equipment and your going to put a really old P4 in it.

Something that I would keep in mind though is that the type of Pentium 4 Processor that you have supports a max of 800mhz front side bus and is going to limit your speed of your RAM even more.

yeah the problem I was having was actually a compatibility issue with the mobo. I ended up getting a amd fx-4100 cpu which came with a free mobo that supports the 1866 ram i have so everything is 100% compatible now :) problem fixed
