Personally, I think it would be better if you go for the i5 3570k with the HD 7970! It may seem an odd combo but i know some of my friends who have this combo and its amazing!! But hey, this is my opinion!

like ARICH5 said ''i would say go for either build choosing the cheaper one."

+1!

I don't know. The proposed AMD combo is actually more expensive than the Intel. An 8350 is about 180 atm, while the I5 is 220. A good brand 660ti is 277, and the same for a 7970 is 370. An Asus AMD motherboard is 80 or 95 dollars, and the same brand z77 Intel board is 120. So yeah, about 45 dollars difference overall.

For gaming, getting the 7970 with either Cpu will give you the best performance. Right now, you can get a 3350p cpu for 165, or a 3470 for 189. No real overclocking available to either one of those, but at stock speeds they will give you the best performance for games vs. a stock fx8350.

Honestly, find a way to get the 3570k cpu with a 7970 video card. You won't find a reasonably better combo than that right now. Save some money and get the non-ghz edition card as well. You can always overclock the card yourself.
